Welcome:

Kirsten thanked those who helped at the DIg Day.

The Charity Status is in the process of being applied for, but we need the bank statements to complete this. Bank statements are pending the transition of signatories from the previous treasurer and chair to incumbent.

Events Update:

Due to the high number of Covid cases within the school community, Mr Elledge has decided, on the advice of Public Health and Dorset Council, that any events be cancelled or Postponed. The only school event which will take place are the Nativity Performances.

Therefore:

Wreath Making - 29th Nov - cancelled. KF has emailed Helen at Williams.

Lantern Parade - 3rd Dec - decision taken to not hold this.

Bingo - 10th Dec - will be postponed and run next term. No tickets have currently been sold, so RHM will remove the ticket link online, and CC will amend posters accordingly.

Other Events:

CC has offered to organise a Christmas Treasure Hunt around the village.

Maps will be sold in the school playground at a minimum £2 each. Tag Line: Please support your PTA by donating what you can.

KF will create a poster.

Those who successfully complete it will be entered into a prize draw to win a tub of chocolates (and a family swim? tbc)

Raffle at the Nativity Performances 7th, 8th, 9th December

This was keenly suggested, and KF will try and enable this, as it was decided to keep the Bingo raffle prizes for next year when the Bingo is held.

KF will message the school and ask for the following to be requested as donations:

Reception: Savoury Snacks (no nuts)

Year 1: Toiletries

Year 2: Stationary

Year 3: Drinks (soft and hard!)

Year 4: Candles / Teatowels / mugs / homewares

Year 5: Hamper goodies!

Year 6: Secret Santa style gifts

Raffle tickets will also be available to those not attending, and will be selected at random during the course of the week.

An email is to be sent to parents, and they fill in their details and then return the ‘stubs’ with money to school. KF will need help from someone who did this last year, please.

UPDATE: Awaiting confirmation if the Office are able to hold on to raffle donations.

F.C.

VB has a willing neighbour to take the role. The suit is at school, somewhere.

KF has 200+ books at her house which need wrapping. People who are willing to help wrap can come to KF’s between 9-11am on Wednesday 24th November.

VB & LG will ask Dikes to donate wrapping paper.

We are waiting on a decision from the school as to the best way to proceed with giving gifts out.

Break The Rules Day

BS will come up with two dates for next term.

Painting the pool fence

This will be done over Easter Holidays.

Pre-Loved Uniform

LG will take this on, and KF will order some large plastic boxes to sort and store uniform.

A donation day will take place towards the end of this term, and then a ‘sale’ next term. Volunteers will be needed to help Linda sort items, and on ‘sale’ days. Items are available on a “take what you need and give what you can” basis.

Suggested things could be stored in the swimming pool changing rooms for now.

PTA storage

The PTA need their own store to consolidate what we have, and have a storage area which can be accessed as we need.

KF to speak to Karen and Mr Elledge about where this could be.

RHM confirms we have some funds which could pay for this.

UPDATE: KF has spoken to Mr Elledge, and we will discuss where is a suitable position when we have more information from the fire regulator about proximity of sheds of the main building.

General Fundraising

We have two funds - one specific for the pool cover, and one for general use.

Mr Elledge would like the PTA to fund coaches, trips and to enable yr4 & 5 to go on residential trips as well as year 6.

The suggestion from RHM was strongly supported that any family who needed to, could apply to the PTA for funding support in confidence.

Railings

This is a very big job, and it was agreed we would wait until the spring to start tackling this.

VB will ask her husband if he know anyone who can advise us.

Other PTA members - please ask in your class groups, if there is anyone who could provide advice, tools, labour or materials towards this.

Buddy Bench Sign

Agreed we would buy 3, with the schools approval.

UPDATE: 3 buddy bench signs have been ordered and will delivered to school. We just need a willing volunteer to put them up

Mission statement

The following statement was agreed.

Our PTA is leading the way to empower our children to excel in education and life. We aim to do this by enabling their experiences at school, especially in the natural world, science, sports and art, and by ensuring they are exposed to the diverse richness and wonder of people and life that surrounds us in our community, our country and on our planet.

Notice Boards

It was agreed that a notice board - ideally 2 - one by the lower gate and one by the entrance to the car park - would be the best place to promote PTA and other local activities and distribute information. It was suggested we could ‘rent’ space in the notice boards to local businesses.

VB has offered to get them installed.

KF to speak to Mr Elledge about these again, and look at options.

Update: KR has spoken to SE - and Mr Elledge is not keen on external notice boards. We will keep a discussion open and work out the best way to do this. Potentially installing a proper notice board on the wall beside the targets in the playground. KF to discuss further with SE.

Christmas Lunch

This is also Christmas Jumper Day. (and there will be a Christmas Jumper Day on the last day of term too)

KF to order crackers, and write letter to parents/carers asking for a £1 donation and for their child(ren) to bring in a knife, fork, spoon, napkin each.

Waiting on a decision from Mr Elledge if the PTA can come in and help with this or not.

Christmas lunch has been sorted by the school catering company, and so we do not need to arrange any external caters this year.

AOB:

None

Meeting closed at 3pm.

Next Meeting: In the new year - date TBC
